G'day
Welcome to the auskadi blog, one of my various lines of flight.
I can't promise anything but ideas, the odd story and news.
Globalisation, technology, post anythingism ... and bikes ... lots of bikes ....
Lets see what passes.
If you want to use anything here just ask me martin.hardie@gmail.com.
I am not buying into all that creative licence fetishism.
Just ask and we can talk.

View Article  Iñigo Txapeldun
On the last day of the Dauphine a multinational corporation took the first three places of the final stage, boring us to tears and showing us oh what so such money can do. Meanwhile a 24 year old from the seaside near Bilbao named Iñigo Landaluze was the real discovery. Iñigo finished without teamates and achieved something that nobody's money could have ever bought. In doing so he continued the process of making the Dauphine podium a Basque affair. Aupa Iñigo!

The only thing to say is:

ZORIONAK Iñigo Txapeldun!!!

A work in progress on the theory of immaterial labour and the factory without walls of the post-fordist world. Directly applicable to free and open source software production, writing for the world centre of  cycling news or reality tv amongst many other things. As they say on American Idols - you decide.
View Article  Iñigo Hangs In
Iñigo Landaluze hung on to his lead in the penultimate stage of the Dauphine. It was another brave ride for the new king of Alkorta. He now holds a 59 second advantage over Santi Botero Echavarri, who is one man who seems to be back on the come back trail in a big way. Question: Is his old mate the Gallego Pino still hanging around Phonak providing  any services? Maybe my mate Imran can answer that one as he has been gushing loudly about the return of Santi of late.

But back to Iñigo (for you non Basqueys you can follow the Team Patxaran pronounciation of "In Ya Go"): he only has three teammates left. Gorospe didn't send a team of Orange big guns to the race and now only the tall guys Koldo Fernandez, Joseba Zubeldia and Aitor Silloniz are left to help poor old Iñigo out over one bumpy stage. I expect Aitor to put in a big effort today, none of this "estoy jodido" crap. If not I promise I will kick his arse in Iuretta in a few weeks time. Get on your bike Silloniiz and bring the bacon or jamon home to Bizkaia.

If Iñigo was to hang on it would be the 4th Euskadi podium finish in the last six years of the Dauphine. He would join Iban Mayo (twice -1st 2004 and 2nd 2003) and Haimar Zubeldia (2nd 2000). That record is only surpassed by a bloated gringo team that has more money and doctors than ....

it is no wonder then that CNN even gave Iñigo a mention today, even if they were a bit confused about what to call him. In one sentence he was Spanish and the next Basque. I  wonder if this is a sign that the Plan Ibaretxe's shared sovereignty has been accepted in the USofA?
